REELFREE NATION

Our mission

Reclaim Human Attention.

A citizen-led public-interest movement, starting in India, for digital products that support healthy use rather than capture unlimited attention.

Vision

A world where human attention is treated as something worth protecting, and digital products are designed to support healthy use rather than capture unlimited attention.

Mission

REELFREE NATION investigates and communicates evidence about algorithmically driven, infinite-scroll short-form video, and advocates for healthier digital environments and evidence-based policy.

We start in India. The concern is not Indian, and over time we hope other countries will build chapters of their own — each grounded in its own research and its own laws.

Policy position

Policy direction

REELFREE NATION advocates for evidence-based regulation of algorithmically driven, infinite-scroll short-form video feeds, with particular protection for children and young people.

Ten principles

These govern everything we publish and everything we ask people to do.

Evidence first
We do not publish unsupported scientific or causal claims.
People first
We protect children's and young people's wellbeing while respecting lawful expression and access to information.
Transparency
We publish our methodology, funding, conflicts of interest, limitations and corrections.
Privacy by design
We collect as little personal data as possible, and we never sell survey participants' personal data.
No harassment
We criticise systems and policies, not individuals.
No manipulation
We never fabricate supporters, survey results, testimonials or engagement.
Democratic action
We work through legitimate public consultation, citizen engagement, research, media and policymaker channels.
Technology-neutral
The issue is a harmful design pattern, not a particular company or nationality.
Global potential, local evidence
India is the starting point. Future country chapters will use their own local evidence and legal frameworks.
Correct mistakes openly
We keep a public record of corrections.

How we hope people take part

We want someone arriving for the first time to understand the problem, the evidence, our demand and what they can do — in about a minute. From there, the path we hope people follow is simple:

Understand → Verify → Participate → Share

Understand the issue. Check the evidence for yourself. Take part in a way that is legitimate and useful. Then share what you found, honestly.
