Our demand
Regulate the mechanism, not the speech.
Our objection is to a design pattern and the incentives behind it — not to short video, not to creators, and not to anyone's right to publish or watch.
Policy position
What we are asking for
Protect children first. Prove the rest.
REELFREE NATION advocates for evidence-based regulation of algorithmically driven, infinite-scroll short-form video feeds, with particular protection for children and young people.
What we are not asking for — yet
Some people will want us to go further, sooner. We will support stronger measures — including restricting particular feed mechanisms — only as they are supported by:
- evidence, gathered and published to the standard on our evidence page;
- expert review;
- legal analysis;
- public consultation; and
- democratic policymaking.
We are not presenting a final legal conclusion. A demand that moves ahead of its evidence would undermine the case we are trying to build.
How we will pursue it
Through legitimate, democratic and evidence-based routes, including:
- public consultations and citizen-engagement platforms;
- formal submissions to government;
- meetings with policymakers; and
- parliamentary engagement.
We will not encourage spam, coordinated harassment, fake accounts, fabricated signatures or mass-duplicated submissions. They are wrong, and they would discredit everyone who takes part honestly.
As this work begins, we intend to publish what we submit, to whom, and what response we receive.
